Okay, before I begin, can I count my blogging words towards my daily total?
Oh, fine, you guys are such party poopers!
As soon as I finish blogging, I have to get writing. My grand cumulative total right now is 5026 words (ah! I hit the 5000 mark!), but to be caught up through today, I need to be at 6452. Barbara and Adam, you're making me look bad being so far ahead of schedule, but I say good for you! For my part, I need to write 1426 words in the next two hours.
I'm finding it's getting a little easier for me to just put words down, even if I know they aren't necessarily the perfect word for the occasion (which is a little odd, because right now I'm writing about a beekeeper who is a real stickler for perfect word choices, but anyway...), but I still find that I'm freaking out about something new every day. Here's a quick freak-out log:
Day 1: Where to start? How to start? I committed myself to what this month?!?
Day 2: This isn't the story I was anticipating writing. Now what?
Day 3: I'm liking the story I wasn't anticipating writing, but how in the world am I going to make that story into a novel? Already it's triple the length of my normal writing endeavors.
Day 4: I've used all my best ideas, and I'm only at 5,000 words. I think I dried out my brain.
For the record, I've counted and that was just 247 words. It only took me five minutes. I'm off to write, and maybe if I just pretend I'm blogging instead of novelling, it will come much faster!

Aha! Jenny, I think you just hit pay dirt. Pretend you're blogging and, poof, a novel appears. Kind of epistolary in a new-millenium, tech-y kind of way.
