Day 9 -- hopefully not done yet

Ah, Adam, I love a challenge. Got home and farted around a little bit, then wrote a little bit in a "words tucked away" folder that don't fit in the story yet but that I don't want to forget. Then I finished the gills chapter and did a word count for the day. I'm at 4731, which means I have just 279 words to go to pass your one-day record. Can I do it? I don't know -- I'll fill you in at midnight.
