There's another generation of bunnies zipping across the patio and nibbling on the grass and weeds in the backyard. This one held still, looking at me out of the corner of its eye, hoping I wasn't going to come out and scare it off. I didn't because it's too short to get up to the bird feeder and wreck things.
I decided that Sailing the Seas was in good enough shape that I could have ProWritingAid run a Manuscript Analysis on it and I'd have just a few things that were concerning to fix. Well. That is not how things turned out at all. First, it decided that this is a Caribbean cozy mystery so it told me to thread mystery features through the whole manuscript. It's not a cozy mystery. Yes, there's a murder (offstage), but it's not the main feature of the story. It's much more a slice-of-life story about Rose and the different guests that visit Seaview and Rose's struggle to integrate into the island society. It printed out 22 pages of recommendations, 2 to a page, and I worked my way through them today. I finally got tired and slightly cross-eyed from looking at the screen and left the last few pages for another day.
Since I was tired of looking at the screen, I picked up How to Write a Cozy Mystery and read the chapter about suspects. That made me want to make a list of possible suspects, so it was back on Word and back on the screen and I made a list. Longer than I thought it'd be, but one guy's on there three times because he shows up at each murder scene. One cool thing I learned was that bodies #2 and #3 are suspects in the previous murders, dropping off the suspect list only when they croak. Then I had to work out alibis for each of the suspects and also think of reasons they could be the killer. It was very entertaining work.
Today's flower is a Tulip. It's a little small on the page. I'm not sure why it's so little but it still looks like a tulip.
Before coming back here to blog, I sat down and dashed off a gratitude journal page. Most of the things on there are things I've already talked about but I'm happiest with the way the squirrel turned out. I was going to try drawing it on the feeder but decided at the last minute that was beyond my drawing capabilities.
I've got one more round, maybe two more rounds, to knit on Scrap Hat #5. I hoped to finish it tonight but I'm a slow knitter and, well, it'll get done (maybe) tomorrow.
