Sarah and Percy and Bill

The owl babies are all made and ready to be played with the next time the owl mother (LC) comes over for a visit.  These little things are addictive to make and all I have to buy is the safety eyes, the rest of the parts I have on hand.

I was looking for some wooden forest animals in the local school/educational toy store, went down the puzzle aisle and saw this.  It's an 18,000 piece jigsaw puzzle.  I didn't even look at the price because I can't imagine having the ability or the endurance to put together a puzzle like that.  And the picture's one of those busy ones that has a zillion small items all chock-a-block.  Looks to me like you couldn't tell up from down on most of the pieces.  Yikes.  No thanks.

Last night's sunset was a real winner.  It was so beautiful that I had to pull into the parking lot behind the neighbor's house to take a picture.  Look at that, all pink and gray and gorgeous.  It was much more gorgeous-er a few minutes earlier but, naturally, I was trapped in the drive-thru at the bank.

I was happy to get a call from the chiropractor's office yesterday afternoon to say that my re-done orthotics had finally arrived, four weeks after they were returned for re-working.  Whatever the left one did to my foot and lower leg had a long lasting, overnight effect on a muscle in my calf.  Every 45 minutes or so all night I woke up just enough to realize that I was this close to having a Charley horse, so I'd stretch my toes up toward my knee hoping to keep it from cramping and it would subside--for a while.  I did a lot of yoga stretches this morning; I hope that helps.  I am so OVER this stupid ankle.  It's been seven months, get it together already.

November 3--Carl Schneider, WY-001.  The beach at Lake Emily wasn't exactly sandy but it wasn't rocky either.  It was some weird hybrid halfway between.  No matter how wet you got the stuff, you couldn't build a sand castle.  You'd think you had your pail tamped full and it looked like it would hold its shape but as soon as you lifted the bucket off, the thing collapsed.  It was very frustrating.  We'd try digging out channels but the tiny stones slithered right back.  It was murder to walk on and pieces got in your shoes or between your feet and your sandals and it hurt.  Not really a beach at all, more like a gravel pit with really small gravel and water in the middle.

I get to go work today.  Maybe some customers will come see me.  This is a quiet time of year, between local diving season and holiday shopping, so some days I'm busy and some days I'm bored.  I'd rather be busy so come on down.

You should have bought that puzzle. You could then show progress on it for the rest of your life!! Can't imagine anyone having the patience for that. The owl family is adorable.
