A Thought Is Not A Plan

I thought I'd repair to my basement sewing area after supper last night to work on the other puppet.  I didn't.  I was too tired from actually having to work at work all day yesterday (there was this shipment of tanks...) so instead of sewing (and possibly making big fat mistakes that would frustrate the daylights outta me) I sat on the couch, frogged my little Helical Sock Mitt cuff and inch of arm, then cast on a Helical Sock Sock instead.  I was reading comments in The Lounge over on Mason-Dixon Knitting and one of the commenters said she'd been powering through helical striped socks using her leftover sock yarn.  That's what I was doing except I was making mitts.  To be honest, I wasn't feeling it, I really wanted to make a sock, so I am.  I've gone up a needle size (because US 3 is truly the smallest needle I'm comfortable knitting with), cast on fewer stitches, and am going again.

The Denim Washcloth is about to saucer-size.  My intent was to work on the Helical Sock Mitt at work and the Denim Washcloth at home but once I'd read that one little "I'm making socks instead" comment I waited until I got home to change plans so actually the only knitting progress was not really progress at all; it was reverse progress... regression?  Anyway, that's it for yarn news.

In the Blooming Department, we have the hyacinth which is this close to opening up and making it smell so good on the porch I'll be glad to go in and out the front door.  At the other end of the flower bed the daffodil buds are up and plumping, and the tiny, tiny white and purple squills are just about ready to open.  Hooray!

April 6--Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Luncheon of the Boating Party.

so many men
so much wine
summer sun on water
barest of breezes insinuates itself
cools ankles and napes
luncheon of cheese, bread, grapes
all that wine
~~~~~
If you really look at that painting there are nine men and only five women.  Now, maybe the other four women all went to the bathroom together (as women tend to do) but it seemed like a recipe for debauchery to me.  Call me crazy or maybe I just have a dirty mind but I calls 'em as I sees 'em.  Gotta go to work.  I'm hoping for no more tanks; I'm sure the UPS guy is too.
The best laid plans...... Sometimes it's better to regress than progress in the wrong direction. We are progressing with our move. Paul and Jeff began the towing of the boat operation -- on a less than perfect day yesterday -- windy, windy, windy. They made it safe and sound to Savannah. Ft. Myers today. Yay and Yay!!
