I was talking to MB this afternoon when I glanced out the patio door and saw her. The hen turkey was off the nest and walking across the backyard. I was just fast enough with the camera that I caught her walking away. She looks like she's lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw her in the yard. I hoped to get a chance to zip out to see how many eggs she's sitting on but wasn't fast enough.
There were two gray birds bathing this morning and I couldn't figure out what they were. Later on I saw them, or ones like them, chasing a Starling around. One would land, crouch, flutter, and open its beak. It was a baby Starling. So the ones in the birdbath were babies too. It was fun to watch the adult fly up to the suet cakes, peck off a chunk, and then feed it to the baby that was almost the same size as the grownup.
The baby bunny isn't such a baby anymore either. It's just as skittish as it was but it's spending more time nibbling on grass and weeds. It can eat as many weeds as it wants. I do not care.
I skipped the Sketchbook Challenge prompts today and turned to the Bird of Paradise in 10-Steps: Flowers. I even colored it.
The French Iris on the end of the retaining wall are blooming. They popped open before I even noticed they were budding. French Iris are a little more restrained than the old fashioned ones. I like them. I even saved a picture so I can try painting them. One of these days.
The purple Iris are fading but the yellow ones are still going strong. Maybe I'll try painting them too.
I did laundry today. It's been a while. There was a mix of long and short sleeved t-shirts and a sweatshirt or two. Although I could have worn long-sleeved tees last weekend up at CS's cabin. I wore either my hoodie or my cotton sweatshirt sweater most of the time and at night I wore them both. It was warmish but I was glad to have long sleeves to put on, especially at night.
Today is was humid and smoky, and then it started raining just as Writer's Guild got out. Of course, it had to rain when we went outside. It couldn't rain while we were inside. That would be foolish.
I came to the conclusion that my Hummingbird feeder was leaking so I went downstairs and got the other one. Which leaked worse. So I went over to Family Pet Center and bought a new one. It doesn't seem to leak. Now I hope the Hummingbirds haven't decided that my feeder is always empty and come over to try the new one. Here, birdie, birdie, birdie!
I keep trying to find more places to put my two main characters in the manuscript but I read it and it makes sense the way it is. Maybe I need to put it aside for a little while?
I found a website that lists craft and vendor fairs in the area. All of them are put on by one company. GBB and I looked at them and have picked out some that we're going to try. It doesn't say if they provide tables, etc. so I'm thinking we bring our own. With the book fairs we're signed up for and these craft fairs it should be an interesting autumn and run up to the holidays. Hey, it's worth a try.

I hope we get to see some baby turkeys. They've got to come out eventually.
