On Friday afternoon we had cosmos (yes, even me!) and cheese and crackers on the screen porch where we were charged with making sure the chairs didn't blow away. Not that it was windy or anything, but it's a good excuse for having to sit there and chat and knit.
In two days of knitting I finished the Evergreen Alpaca Hat I'd cast on before leaving home. It's a simple pattern that just requires counting the rounds of the ribbed brim and the stockinette hat body and decreases. I have an app on my iPad that has the pattern on it and lets me keep track of rounds so I don't even have to count, just poke a spot when I finish a round.
I finished that hat just before we went to a local lakeside bar for pizza for supper, then I cast on the same number of stitches with the same yarn and needles but a different pattern. I needed something else to knit because I didn't want to knit on the dishcloth project I brought along. Cotton yarn makes my hands ache and they already ached from all of the knitting I did Friday and earlier Saturday. I didn't get far but it's a start.
On Saturday afternoon we gathered up some snacks and went out on CS's boat for a tour around the lake looking at cabins and scenery. The boat motor started acting up so we cut our tour short and just had our snacks and drinks at the dock. KE said that we were like rich boat girls having our drinks and snacks on a boat. I don't know how rich we all are but there was a lot of smart and sassy talk!
Saturday morning CS made oatmeal for breakfast with dried cranberries in it. I put a couple banana slices in my bowl and realized it made it look like my cereal was looking at me so I spooned a few cranberries into a line so it had a mouth. Silly, but it made us all grin. Once again I neglected to take a picture of the Eggs Benedict that CS made for breakfast today. It was to die for delicious, especially the homemade, not from a packet Hollandaise Sauce.
There's a Hummingbird feeder hanging from the eave over the screen porch so we were entertained all weekend by a constant stream of the tiny birds. They're fierce and they don't share well, especially the male. He's very territorial and drives off the females when he wants to eat. I didn't get a picture so all I have to show you is the Oriole that came to the feeder in my backyard this evening after I got done mowing the lawn when I got home and after my much-needed shower.
Look what came while I was gone! Remember I said that I couldn't find my red Chuck Taylor shoes? I ordered new ones and they came. In two days! My neighbor picked up the box for me and gave it to me when I got home. I'll be wearing them tomorrow you can be sure of that.
As soon as I got home and unpacked, I changed into old shorts and shirt and went out to mow. It's supposed to be pretty hot the next couple days so it was a good thing I did it. Then I had to go to the grocery store for bananas and a few other things. Now I'm feeling pretty tired. Oh, I had 83 emails when I logged in just now. That should take a while to sort through. Guess I'm popular.
I did the Wordle today in two guesses. Not only am I popular, I'm a lucky guesser.

Your weekend sounded perfect. Can't believe you did the yard, grocery store, etc. when you got home. You were full of energy. Maybe the sight of those neat red shoes inspired you! Welcome back.
