A Good Day

I had my book signing today from 10 to 2 at OtherWorlds Books & More in Sturgeon Bay which is about an hour north of Green Bay. They had a table set up for me kind of under a stairs but it turned out to be a good spot. I sold four books--one The Seaview and three Better Than Mom's. That's good, but what was even better was they restocked their shelves with twelve more books that they paid cash for. Woohoo! I came home with a lot fewer books than I went with. I even had to go out to the car and raid my car box for copies. The drive home was very pleasant. And I offered each buyer a key fob and they all took one, one of the tropical ones. I spread them out on the table so they weren't just jumbled in a basket like at the Market on Military. That seemed to work better.

In frustrating news, I don't think any Hummingbirds are coming to my new feeder. In fact, the level of the liquid is higher because it rained the other night and evidently rained in the little feeding ports. My only guess is that the other feeder leaked badly enough that there wasn't nectar when the birds came and they gave up. I'll leave it out, though, just in case. Dang. I'm glad I bought the $8 feeder and not the $17 one.

I forgot to take along one of my little, business card size book sale tally cards today. The few cards that I have left don't have Spies Don't Retire on them and the program I used to make the cards, Print Shop, won't reload on my new computer because there's some issue with some code they want put in. I have the code and when I put it in I get an error message. Gah! So I went into Word hoping to find a blank business card template to enter my information in. Naturally there's no such thing. All they have are pre-made templates with names and graphics. I can change the names but not the graphics. So I found a simple one with a blue line down the side and substituted my book titles for the name, address, etc. on the template. For some reason I couldn't delete some parts. I'd delete them and they'd pop right back on. I was about ready to just leave it but then I realized I could change the color of the stubborn words to white and make them disappear. Voila!

Today's drawing prompt was Abstract. I was pretty tired from driving and being "on" for four hours so I just did the minimum I could muster up and left it at that. I like my shapes and the colors.

And I've got a bit of a sore throat. I don't want a cold, thank you very much. I'll try to sleep it off tonight. Durwood used to say he could negotiate a cold away by saying he didn't have time for it now, that he'd accept it in a week or so. He swore it worked. I'm going to try it when I'm falling asleep.

A banner day for you yesterday!!! Definitely worth three exclamation points. I like Durwood's remedy for a cold. I've tried that when I wanted to lose weight. Just telling myself that I'm thinner. My method never worked.
