I caught sight of a Downy Woodpecker on the back side of the suet cakes and was lucky enough to snap a picture when it reared back before pecking out another bite so you can see its head. I couldn't see if it was a male or female.
This afternoon I took a stab at painting the French Irises. It didn't turn out too badly. It's nice and smooshy like I'd hoped but I'm disappointed that the flowers don't stand out more. Maybe the background is too dark. I'll try again another day.
The prompt I chose to draw was Garden. Since I don't have a garden I drew a few of the plants on the retaining wall, the wall, and the fence behind it. Meh.
Turns out the Gray Catbird likes the grape jelly too. Have I told you that before? I don't remember but it wasn't shy about dipping its beak in the goopy jelly. It rained on Tuesday night so the jelly got watered down but the birds don't seem to mind at all.
And I made time to draw a gratitude journal page too. Only three things but I'm just grateful I made the time to think of it.
After supper I took a walk. I'm trying to go a few times a week so I'm not huffing and puffing too much when I go back to The Clearing in September. Plus it's good for me.
The education at Writer's Guild Tuesday night was about writing an elevator (short) pitch for our stories or novels so that's what I worked on this afternoon. I have waaaaaay too much written down but I figure that's better than not enough. I can always cut things out, right?

Chocolate ice cream is definitely worth listing in your gratitude journal. Right now, I'd list chocolate cookies from Aldi. They are from a German bakery so, of course, they're good. I try not to eat the whole box at one time.
