Well, I Did It

I went to Michaels this afternoon because I had a $5 voucher that was going to expire tomorrow. I meant to buy a sketchbook but they had "buy 1, get 1 50% off" so I had to buy 2. Then I went and looked at the drawing and painting books. *sigh* There was this Watercolor Wildflowers book that had to come home with me. So I got out the watercolors, picked out the brushes that this author recommends, and taped paper to a plexiglass board. First I just did the brushwork practice but then I turned to the first project and had to keep going. It's lavender. I like the way it turned out.

The Red-bellied Woodpecker showed up again today. It stopped for a split-second on the platform feeder then flew over to the suet pellets and hung there, nearly invisible except for its tail and belly. I could see the pale red patch on its belly but it's kind of hard to see in the picture.

When I went out to fill the birdbath this afternoon I glanced at the sorry-looking tomato plant that's still managing to hang on and has weathered two nights of frost and there was this tiny, marble-sized green tomato! I don't know what it thinks it's doing. I've stopped watering it and it hasn't rained much in weeks. Where it's getting the gumption to grow new leaves and a new tomato I do not know.

I drew a gratitude page this morning for yesterday. I know I should do them at night but it's easier to do when I'm not quite awake. This one extols the humble portable dishwasher, one of my favorite appliances.

I think I figured out why FB had a problem with my blog post on Friday night. I took a picture of the email I got telling me that I'd won the 5-page critique and posted it. I suspect that A.I. interpreted that headline as a contest scam and deleted it. I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say about it.

Tomorrow morning I have my bi-weekly critique Zoom with cda and LL. I'm glad I thought of that just now so I could set an alarm on my phone. If I don't get up early and have time for yoga and breakfast, it'll be like Dawn of the Living Dead on the Zoom call. Then in the afternoon I have my annual physical. Oh goodie. At least I've had the blood work done already so I don't have that to look forward to.

Oh that brave little tomato 🍅. I hope he keeps growing until you can turn him into a BLT!
