Not Quite Right

I pulled out the first watercolor sketchbook I took notes in the first time I took Kari's watercolor class at The Clearing and attempted to replicate one of the paintings. When I looked at it I knew there was something wrong with it but didn't figure it out until just now. That blue stripe in the middle is supposed to be lake which is fine but I didn't make the trees tall enough on either side so the sky is lower than the lake. Not quite right. Now I'll have to try again.

When I was checking out at the Jensen Center bookstore at The Clearing the other day I noticed that my book, Horizon, is on the shelf right behind the cash register so everyone buying something will see it. I was feeling disappointed because my book wasn't with all the others on the wall but this is better.

Speaking of books, I sold three copies of Spies Don't Retire to OtherWorlds Books & More in Sturgeon Bay on my way to Ellison Bay a week ago Sunday and I sold 7 copies of four other titles to students in the watercolor class. Yippee! I'd have sold 8 if I'd had another copy of Spies Don't Retire with me but I thought the bookstore would only take 2. Oh well. Still, 7's a good number. And I sold 2 copies of Spies Don't Retire today to two friends from Chicago who stopped in town for lunch on their way to Door County for the week. I ordered more author copies of all my titles today so I hope I won't run out. GBB emailed me today that the Art Garage is having another book fair in July in addition to their November 1 one so I emailed them that I'm interested. What the heck, right?

This little chipmunk was scurrying around on the patio and under the feeders today. He spent a lot of time poking around through the grass looking for fallen seed. I assume he found some because he stuck around.

There was a single trillium getting ready to blossom right alongside the steps to my cabin. I watched it carefully all week but it hadn't opened by the time I left. Almost but not quite.

I hosted knitting tonight. We had pimento cheese on toasted Italian bread, fruit salad, cocktail shrimp, and cheesecake. Also Zambaldi Beer. We didn't starve.

You're selling books all over the place. Congrats. Cute little chipmunk looking for lunch out there in your backyard. So small.
