Dreary All Day

It was raining when I woke up this morning and it didn't stop until late afternoon. The day was gray and my mood was gray too. Then two of tonight's knitters texted that they aren't feeling well and needed to stay home. So I had open face pimento cheese sandwiches for supper and felt a little sorry for myself. We've rescheduled so I'll still get to host knitters and make pimento cheese again in about 10 days.

Even though it was raining like it meant to rain all day, that didn't prevent the squirrel from hanging on the suet cakes feeder noshing away at it. The squirrel is a very messy eater. It chews at the suet eating some and dropping crumbs on the ground underneath. Then it drops down and gobbles up what it dropped.

A Chickadee visited the feeders today too. It was seriously streamlined looking in the rain, not the fluffy little ball of feathers it usually is. I got a couple shots of it and this one was in focus.

I picked an easy prompt out of Sketchbook Challenge today. It's number 5 and it's Boxes. I love the way you can draw a 3-D box with a couple squares, a few diagonal lines, and a little erasing. I added the flaps on the bottom one on my own. I didn't paint today because I packed my brushes and other painting supplies so I'm ready to go on Sunday.

Yesterday I brought up the 2 gray rolling backpacks--one for books to take to OtherWorlds Books & More in Sturgeon Bay and the other one for most of my painting supplies. It's so much easier to haul that stuff around in a tidy canvas backpack with a handle and wheels. And I put a few more clothes in the suitcase. I think I've got everything in there except for the last-minute things I'll pack on Sunday morning like toiletries, etc.

I got an email from BookBub which is an eBook selling site I'm registered on. I don't have any followers and haven't sold any books through them so I decided to follow through on the email's suggestion and make an ad to run most of May. I set a budget and chose how I'd be charged (cost per 1000 impressions) and launched it. It'll get tagged onto emails, I think, so more people will see it. I selected a few authors whose books are similar so maybe their followers will see my book and decide to give it a read. Hopefully.

I spent some time reading the manuscript and changing a word here and there. I also filled out a contract to be in a craft show in November. It's pricey and I'm second-guessing myself whether it's a good idea but I'm committed so it'll be all right. (she says ignoring the butterflies in her stomach) I want to have a sign/poster printed to attract buyers but we can't pin anything to the walls of the room the show will be in so I'm not sure how I could display it. I'll go over to the local printer when I get home after next week and see what's available. Like I've said, writing is easy, marketing is hard.

Nice of the squirrel to clean up after himself under the feeder.
