Hers & His

Today the Oriole couple visited the grape jelly quite a bit. She more than he. And someone posted on Facebook that we shouldn't put grape jelly out because if Hummingbirds get into it they get all sticky and it isn't good for them. I think that it's good that I have nectar for the Hummers and jelly for the Orioles. I don't want to stop feeding either one of them.

Her first. She looks less scared than she did the first few times she visited so that must mean she likes me.

He's all proud and proprietary when he visits. He looks around like he's commanding the area and doesn't tolerate interference.

The little female Hummingbird was back today. And she sipped from the nearest port so I got a good, clear picture of her. She's so tiny she doesn't look real. She's barely bigger than a bumblebee.

Today's drawing out of the Sketchbook Challenge was Clocks, Watches & Time. I have a lot of clocks. These three are the ones I see from my place at the kitchen table. The squarish one is from Bonaire. Durwood bought it one trip so he'd always know what time it was there. I checked and the time is right. I bought the one on the left when DD went to study in England for a semester so I'd know what time it was where she was and when I could call her or expect a call from her. The one on the right with the Chinese numbers I bought when DS was serving in the army in South Korea so I'd know what time it was where he was. Now they're set to the times where they live--DD is on EDT and DS is on CDT. The east side of Green Bay isn't in a different time zone, it's just across the river, which is a whole thing in Green Bay. I'll explain sometime.

See this little bit of crocheting? It doesn't look like much but I crocheted it with my left hand. It was quite a struggle but I wanted to see if I could do it because LC is left-handed and I figured that'd make us even when we crochet together the next time.

It was a dreary rainy day--again--but I managed to think of four things to be grateful for. I went to the post office and mailed off a copy of Spies Don't Retire to cda. I've been meaning to do it since I got them but finally managed it today. On my way home from the PO I dropped off a few books that have old covers on them. I put them in Little Free Libraries. People want the new, better covers, not the old, amateurish ones.

And I got a package from Amazon. It's an easel to take to book fairs and craft shows. I've commissioned my virtual assistant to design a poster that I can have made to display and needed something to display it on. GBB has an easel like this, only silver, and it looked pretty simple to put up and take down so I got one. Now all I need is the file to send to Office Max to have it printed and maybe mounted on foam board.

Did I tell you of my trials with Amazon last week? I'd ordered some tubes of watercolors to refill my palette and got Chinese White instead of Cerulean Blue. So I got online and asked to return it and get the correct one. It was easy to do on Chat. All I had to do was print off a QR code, then take the wrong tube to the UPS store to have them return it, and they'd send me the correct one that very same day. It arrived a couple hours after I got home from the UPS store the first time. It was the wrong color again. Chinese White again. I figure the tubes were filed in the wrong slot. Anyway, I got back online and this time asked for a refund and had to go back to the UPS store to return the second wrong one. I found it at Cheap Joe's Art Stuff (which is sadly going out of business) so I ordered other colors too. Online is so much fun!

I managed to squeak out a little scene this afternoon. I don't think it's very good but it weaves a main character into the later part of the story. I wasn't very motivated so had a hard time.

Amazon does make it easy to return things but not when they send what you returned all over again. Glad you managed to find it locally. Love the birds today - especially the tiny hummingbird.
