Frost Feathers

I noticed when I went out to get the paper this morning that the hood of my car was covered with enormous frost feathers but I was happy to see the glare of the sun rise over the house at the end of the street.  Clear, blue sky but finger-burning cold, as I discovered when I went out to put some seed in the feeders.

Yesterday evening I finished the Jelli Beenz sock but it's about half an inch too long.  It'll adjust itself in the washer and dryer; I'm not going to pull out the toe and rip it back.  I'm not.  Then I worked on the second sleeve of the Hello Hamish cardi.  I have about an inch left to knit before the garter cuff, then I only have to add the I-cord edging and a couple buttons and it'll be done.  Yay!

February 1--John Nordstrand, Convict Lake, CA.  Louise stood staring out the window at the mountain.  The wind blew the snow straight across the high lake.  It was cold and windy down here, she couldn't imagine being up there.  As she watched she thought she saw a dot of orange flash through a gap in the blowing snow.

This day was crazy busy.  I met BM at the church where the knitting guild meets to learn how to use their projection laptop, then we went to lunch, next Durwood had a haircut appointment, then we went to the grocery.  After I dropped him and the groceries off, I went to the library and to two more groceries for on-sale stuff.  By then it was dark and time for supper.  It's no wonder I'm only blogging now.  You understand, this means no blog post tomorrow because there's not enough day left for anything interesting to happen, right?  Good, just as long as you're prepared.

OK -- I'm warned! No worrying if you don't show up tomorrow. With all you do, you deserve a day off! Our sunrise this morning was an enormous orange ball that was just blinding. Wish I could have captured it in a photo but you'll have to take my word for it!
