It's Not a Bird

I heard the hum of a machine, a big machine, when I was eating my yogurt this morning. I looked out the patio door and here's what I saw. The boom of a crane retracting into the base. I never did figure out or find out what it was doing over there but it sure was big.

I did see a bird. One of the Downy Woodpeckers came back and flew right to the suet cakes, not stopping off for a Slinky ride today. This one clung to the bottom of the feeder so it could eat from both remaining chunks of suet.

In the afternoon I saw two Flickers in the grass by the birdbath. Naturally they didn't pose. One of them stayed behind the birdbath and the other one went over into the shadow of the chimney. I picked up the camera and got ready to take a picture and waited and waited for it to get out of the shadow. It finally did, halfway anyway. Such uncooperative birds.

I drew out of 20 Ways to Draw a Jellyfish this afternoon when I got home from errands. I'm especially proud of the lobster in the top left. The nautilus isn't bad either. All of the little figures today please me.

It's officially mum season. When I came home from chasing around to a couple print shops to get estimates to have a banner made I noticed that more than the purple mums are blooming. The most enthusiastic bloomer is what I call the bronze mum. I don't know what else to call it but I like it.

Nearby is the yellow gold mum. It's about half bloomed but is covered with buds so I expect it to burst forth any day now.

After a walk I sat down and embroidered the face of the Gray Bear and
then sewed up the first half. I regret carrying along the thin variegated yarn because it's white and really shows my whip stitches but I'm not pulling it out and starting over. His eyes aren't exactly the same size either but it looks okay. It'll be a good pal to someone who needs a friend.

I spent hours today working on Author Ad School videos and researching categories and keywords so I can do the homework for a couple of the videos. I also got a ticket (you get one a quarter) to a Group Coaching Session which is the primary reason I joined Ad School. One of the coaches will look at three of my sales pages and give me comments and recommendations. Luckily there was space in the session this coming Wednesday so I don't have to wait too long. I'm kind of nervous and kind of excited. I also spent time reading posts on the Students Only FB page and realized that I didn't understand about half of the things people were talking about especially when it came to ad performance. Hopefully that's something I can learn.
