I mean those bibs with the ribbed neck instead of ties or snaps or Velcro but the ribbing stretches out and there's a gap between that chubby chin, very little neck, and the business part of the bib and I'm not so sure that using the elasticized cotton yarn works any better. Drat. Back to knitting bibs with ties, I guess.
Dad's roses are blooming, yes they are. See? They smell really good and rose-y too. The red-orange lily's still blooming and the stargazers are just about ready to pop. Yippee.
I had a raft of customers yesterday and one of them was a giant. No, really. He was 7' tall and wore size 16 boots, and I had 2 pairs, two styles of them in stock so he had a choice. I think he was stunned, but happy. And I didn't ask him how the weather was up there. I have restraint. At times.
Today the weather is absolutely perfect. It's sunny and cool (53 degrees), and it's supposed to get up into the mid-70s this afternoon. I'm sorry to be working indoors when it's that nice outside. Maybe it'll stay nice like this for tomorrow... and the weekend... and the rest of the year/decade/century/forever. Yeah, probably not, but I can dream, can't I?
July 3--Rembrandt, Portrait of a Man, Probably a Member of the Van Berestyn Family. The guy gave me nightmares for years, the way he glowered down at us when we were climbing the stairs. He was an oil painting of some old Dutch relative that hung in the darkest part of the stairwell. Everything in the painting was black or dark brown, only his white lace collar and his face stood out. When you looked at him, really looked at him, he was kind of a wimpy-looking old fart, but in the dark and especially on a stormy night he terrified me. I tried to get Granny Morgan to hang him someplace else but she said he was too valuable to be hidden away because of the whims of a child. Granny Morgan was not my favorite person.
Well, Durwood just got up so I suppose I'd better go have my breakfast and read the paper. It's time to get ready for work anyway. Enjoy your Thursday, don't spend it all in one place.

Survived Arthur -- but a bit of damage. Lost that stationary awning over the doors to the deck and at one point, the French doors in the bedroom blew open and it took both of us to get them closed and locked again. But not before the carpet back there got soaked!! Still.... could have been worse! Sunshine today!
