I sleep on the living room couch because I'm not going to sleep in the upper bunk and have to climb down in the dark when I have to pee in the middle of the night. Sleeping there affords me a sunny wake-up call (there are no curtains) and also this view when I sit up.
Also on Saturday morning I was the first one up so I had the chance to sit with my little notebook and a pen to get in a little writing because I knew that I'd only be knitting (and yakking, also eating) the rest of the time. I was happy to add to one scene I wrote last week and start another one. Yay, me!
The first thing I worked on and off-and-on the rest of the days was the Zauber Crazy Sock. I started with the dreaded gusset and finished that on Friday night. On Saturday for most of the day I knitted on the sock foot. This morning I got to the toe decreases and stopped because that requires thinking and I just wasn't in the mood.
In between bouts of sock knitting I finished the Ribbed Preemie Hat. Isn't it cute? It's so tiny but it really stretches so it'll fit a lot of little heads.
The least enjoyable project I had with me was the Denim Washcloth. It's least enjoyable because the irregular dyeing of the yarn makes it very difficult to "read" my knitting for clues to what I should be doing when. It's a very simple pattern--k1, slip 1, k1 across on the right side and k1, p1, k1 across on the wrong side--but it's easier to remember if you can see the pattern develop and with this yarn that's hard to do.
After a fantabulous brunch of Eggs Benedict with home-smoked bacon and made-from-scratch Hollandaise Sauce with crispy Hash Browns on the side (which I neglected to take a picture of) we adjourned back to the screened porch for a bit more chatting and knitting. I cast on a Roll Brimmed Preemie Hat with the Water Lilies yarn that I used for the last preemie hat. Because it was all I had on hand and I really like the colors.
Once I got home around 4 o'clock, I unpacked and hopped into my own car and went to the grocery for bananas and lunch foods. I might have bought a few other items but I carried it home in two bags that weren't overfull so I didn't do too much damage.
It was chilly up by the lake over the weekend so I was really really glad that I had on long jeans, a long-sleeved tee, a sweatshirt, a hoodie, socks and shoes. It felt weird to be so bundled up but sitting out in the chilly evening on Saturday made me glad I had it all. It's supposed to get back up into the 80s this week so I can't decide what to wear when. It's just crazy. And I really have to mow the lawn tomorrow afternoon. It's getting pretty shaggy. I meant to mow on Thursday last week but it rained so tomorrow it is.

What a great weekend you had. That early morning view of the lake is beautiful. Makes getting up early worth it.
