Then the Stella d'Oro lilies have really slacked off. Just this one plant is still blooming but there are lots of flowers on it.
And the first orange day lily, the old fashioned kind, bloomed today up on the retaining wall. It's at the end where it's a lot taller than me so the picture is kind of from an odd angle but you can still sorta see the flower.
I discovered where the grape jelly is going today. Seems one of the squirrels has become brave enough and crafty enough to leap to the Oriole feeder and chow down on the jelly. I chased it away twice but I'm sure it'll be back. They're hard to discourage. Mangy tree rats.
Amazon delivered the last 5 books I've ordered to build up my inventory in preparation for my slew of fairs and sales coming in the next few months. I have one sale this month on the 26th and then nothing until the beginning of October. That will give me time to get Christmas at Seaview polished, uploaded, and published before the fall sales. I want to have many copies of all titles so I don't run out. I need to figure out how I can load most of them into my car so I can fetch some more if I sell out a title.
In the afternoon I got out my Kindle and worked on another edit of Summer of Blue Black Nights. I'm still not convinced that's the correct title but it's what I have right now. I'm amazed that after so many read-throughs I'm still finding something on nearly every page that needs changing or fixing.
Then I spent an hour or so adding a problem to Christmas at Seaview. I kind of think it needs some more conflict so that's what I'm looking for in this read-through.
I made a batch of rhubarb sauce and managed to slice myself when I was pulling the last stalk. Instead of laying the knife down like I did every other time, I kept hold of it and shoved my thumb into the just-sharpened blade. Rookie mistake. Naturally it bled all over, but not on my white linen shirt. It's not easy to open a bandage with only one thumb.
Today's drawing prompt was Patterns. I drew four boxes on the paper and filled them with patterns. The one with the stripes going every which way was the most challenging because I kept losing control of my pencil and getting shading in the stripes.
I couldn't believe it when I got up this morning. It was almost 10am. I never sleep that late. Made my whole day out of whack. It was too early to eat lunch at noon and suppertime was later too. Good thing I had nothing on the calendar today.
