Another New Lily

Or two. First is the really new one. It's a medium yellow with a rust red throat. I don't remember planting it but I must have because who else planted lilies over there on the lot line? Only me.

Next to it is the pale yellow day lily. I sort of remember planting that one. What I have to do is weed that flower bed and clear out around the lilies so they can thrive but I'm not much of a weeder. Maybe if I do a bit at a time. Once it's shady over there.

Up on the retaining wall the old-fashioned orange day lilies have started blooming. There's weeds mixed in with them too. Some I can reach, others I can't. Ah well, I choose to just look at the flowers.

And the red day lily with the yellow throat opened another flower today. I wish it would lean over more so I can take a picture of it head-on but it's standing up taller so I kind of get its profile.

A Downy Woodpecker came to visit the suet cakes feeder this afternoon. I haven't seen a woodpecker in a long time. I was glad to see it. It might be one of this year's crop of babies because it's feathers aren't bright white like the adults are. I figure it's just a kid.

And the rabbit visited the patio door again today. I looked up from drawing and there it was. I can't decide whether it's looking at itself or looking at me.

Funnily enough when I saw the rabbit I was drawing today's prompt which was Windows & Doors. So I drew the living room windows and the patio door. Not very exciting but they fit the bill.

There's one old story that's been nagging at me. When I was trolling for stories to put on Substack I ran across it and was very disappointed that it wasn't finished so I moved on. But I can't stop thinking about it so I looked at it again this afternoon and found that I had a background document. See, once in a old writing group we did an exercise where we joined stars in a new constellation and then wrote the legend of the constellation. I can't stop thinking of mine. I sat down and added some more to the story this afternoon and printed off the legend pages with story ideas appended at the end for inspiration. Just what I need, another writing project.

Oh, I almost forgot. I drew a gratitude journal page for yesterday this morning so you get to see it. Just because I can.

This morning I had a critique Zoom with cda and she didn't have too many changes to suggest for the 3rd and 4th chapters of Christmas at Seaview. That made me have a little more confidence that it might be publishable by the end of summer. Fingers crossed.

Love all those lilies and the very serious bunny. Glad you got the lawn mowed and got that behind 👍 you.
