More Flowers

I can't get enough of the spring bulbs that are blooming in front of the house. The daffodils are bursting open as quickly as they can. Their bright yellow petals make me so happy. This is another clump not as old as yesterday's.

The cluster of hyacinths are open more today. They smell great too. I'm glad they evidently don't taste good so the bunnies aren't eating them down to the ground.

Same goes for the squills. This is the biggest stem of them. It's all of about three inches tall and full of blossoms. I'm not willing to lay on my stomach on the ground to get a head-on picture of them but this is the best crouching angle I can manage.

The squirrel was back on the cob corn today too. I wish I could take a picture that was sharper and clearer but if I open the patio door he scampers away in a hurry.

For something to draw I picked the Kitchen Utensil prompt today. It's just a spatula, a wooden spoon, and a slotted spoon. Not bad.

Here, however, is the absolute worst watercolor I've ever painted. It's supposed to be a mysterious woods but I had to quit before the last two steps because it was so awful. In the example, she used Ultramarine Blue for the first "trees" which are just swaths of color with the flat brush over a yellow and gold background. Hers look purple, mine look very blue. Then I was to paint deciduous trees in a mix of Violet and Ultramarine Blue. I did that. They didn't turn out too bad but the next step was to glaze over them with the diluted mix. Hideous. That's when I quit. The next step was to paint conifers over the top of the others and since I'm not good at painting those I took the coward's way out and quit.

I had a Zoom critique with cda this morning getting comments on my pages and giving comments on hers. It's a revelation to get another person's opinion of what I think is absolutely perfect writing. Good but nowhere near perfect. In one paragraph I had "I" six or seven times and in another there was "she" too many times to count. So I spent time this afternoon going over the pages and working to change those things as much as I could manage.

DIL1 had an unexpected meeting this afternoon so I got to do the school run. I'm always happy to get to spend a few minutes with LC and OJ. They're such great kids and pretty darned funny.

I don't agree with your comment about the trees picture. Before I read what you wrote, I immediately thought "Oh. Spooky." You need to take a second look at it. Of course, I love the flowers. The daffodils and the squills especially.
