I went to the park and spent the morning reading published abstracts and histories of the plantations that became the park. I also was lucky enough to talk with one of the rangers who was happy to answer my questions. In one of the printed histories I learned that the Venezuelan Fruit Temple was built as a Fish Market in 1935. I had no idea the VFT was so old!
