Another Drawing Course

Domestika, an online art school, had a 99-cent sale last week for Black Friday. I bought a drawing course and did the first lesson today. I don't know if I'm up to the level of this course but I enjoy drawing so I'm giving it a go. Today we used our tools as models, so here's a page of pens with one pencil. Not bad.

Shortly after I opened the drapes a Cardinal landed on the platform feeder while the sun was sorta shining on it. I remember the bird being more illuminated than this picture shows but at least he looks red and is looking at the camera. That last part was sheer luck.

This fat little squirrel was enjoying the fallout from the Sparrows' visit to the round feeder. They were merrily tossing seed out of the feeder and the squirrel was eating cracked corn as fast as it could. At the same time there was a squirrel on both of the suet feeders. Lots of hungry squirrels again today.

I noticed that the Christmas/Thanksgiving cactus blossom looked even more interesting from the front. I never noticed the stamens (?) and other stuff protruding from between the petals. Very fancy.

I spent another couple hours reading the manuscript on Kindle this afternoon and making notes. Some of the places I think I've already fixed but I was lucky enough to catch a problem with a name today. I changed someone's last name from when I introduced them. Oops. Good catch.

After I finished with that I noticed that the moon was hiding in the bare branches of the tree across the street. I took a chance and snapped a photo with my phone. It's not too bad. Not very sharp but at least you can tell it's the moon.

It was another cold and breezy day. Not as windy as yesterday and last night but certainly not calm. It got up to 30 degrees today but I'm betting that it didn't feel like that. It's supposed to get up to 40 over the weekend. We'll see.

You did very well with your new drawing subjects. I love the picture of the moon through the bare branches. Looks arty!
