Sunshine

I was so happy when I opened the shade over my bed this morning and saw a clear blue sky and abundant sunshine. The main reason I took this picture of a squirrel on the suet nuggets was because it was in the sunshine.

Then the Sparrows were back. A whole flock of them but I only snapped a picture of these on the round birdseed feeder.

But wait, there's more! The Red-bellied Woodpecker landed on the suet nuggets. On the back side, as usual, but just before it flew away it inched around the side and then looked off in the direction it was planning to fly. Snap! Gotcha.

And even more! I saw a flash of blue and there was a Bluejay on the patio table. It's blurry because I had to take it through the screen. I waited to see if it would move onto the patio and it did, but only behind a chair.

Today's drawing is of a Peacock Butterfly. I was going to skip drawing it because it's so complex, but then I mustered up my courage and got busy. It's okay. I've never seen a butterfly like that and I'm not the best at drawing them or coloring them, but I tried and that's what counts.

I had a dental cleaning appointment, which went fine until the hygenist told me that one of my molars has a piece broken off of it. I have two choices: a crown (which is their first choice for longevity) or a four-surface filling (which is a whole lot less expensive and might be my first choice for speed and comfort). The hygenist introduced herself, said she'd known DIL1 since she was a bitty girl, and started working for DJZ, DIL1's dentist dad, when she was in high school. Small world.

It was so beautiful today that after I filled the horse head and cob corn feeders, I took a walk without a jacket. It was 72 degrees. At the end of October. In Wisconsin.

I spent the rest of the afternoon writing the monthly writing progress email letter and sent it off to KM so she can tidy up the links and get it ready to be sent next Sunday. Then I tried to work on a manuscript, either finding a place for secrets, lies, and red herrings in cozy book 1 or charting where to go next on cozy book 2. That's what I'm working on for Novel November. I want to get the first draft of book 2 pretty much written during those 30 days.
