I finished the More Ends cast sock tonight at Friday Night Knitting. I thought I was going to run out of the black and white yarn I used at the top but ended up with about a foot left. Whew.
Then I started this Even More Ends cast sock because I needed something else to knit, there was too much time left in the evening to just sit here idle. I'm trying to use up the bag of walnut-sized balls of leftover yarn I've been collecting but I've got a ways to go. I'll take the bag of little balls along to The Clearing and just keep knitting. I can make cast socks and talk at the same time.
The Red-bellied Woodpecker male showed up at the tube feeder this morning and I managed to snap this picture of him as the tube rotated in the wind. He stayed longer than usual so I had a chance to get a decent shot. After he left both the male and female Downy Woodpecker flew in, she visited the tube feeder, he was on the suet cakes, but they didn't stay long enough for a portrait.
I wasn't too enthusiastic about the next figure in the 15-Minute Artist book--a serpent's head--but I drew it. It's okay.
So I got out the 10 Step Drawing: Nature book and drew the next figure which was blackberries. That I liked.
For today's watercolor I slapped some turquoise over the paper and painted on a few fish and some sponges for an underwater scene. I'm semi-happy with it.
There was a new bird on the ground under the feeders today--a Brown-headed Cowbird. I like its sleek black body and dark brown head. I don't know too much about them but I do know that they don't moo. They must hang out with cattle when they have the chance to earn their name.
Today's toss was a box of razors I found when I went downstairs to get my suitcase. I am anxious to be gone so starting to pack is one way to bring my little escape closer. Packing also means that I have to fold the wash because I'm out of socks. *sigh* If all my socks were the same I could just shove them into a drawer but they're not so I have to sort and pair them up.
Not only was it gray and dreary today but it snowed off and on for quite a bit of the day. It's snowing to beat the band right now. The only redeeming thing is that it isn't sticking. I don't think I could face it if I had to shovel snow tomorrow.

It is definitely too late in the year to even think about shoveling snow. Know you'll have fun at The Clearing -- knitting, talking, writing. Right up your alley!!
I know you will have a great time .. soul renewing time .
