Then I worked on the Fiesta Crocheted Hat. I started it teaching LC to do double crochets and haven't picked it up since. So it was time. I'm enjoying the way the colors are so bright and how they make kind of diagonal lines of color on the hat. The pattern says to make the double crochet rounds in one color and the single crochet rounds in another color. I thought that would be too much for a beginner so we're crocheting the hats in one color yarn. When I finish this hat I think I'll dig out some white yarn to alternate with this variegated yarn and see how that looks.
This morning I dug out the Three Kings that Mom made in ceramics ages (and ages) ago. They're big and garish and I really like them. I kind of love them. I even have the green candle stubs that Mom put in them. I brought up the palm frond Rudolf Mom and Dad made, and the wooden Bah Humbug sign that they made too and got them hung up. And the Charlie Brown Christmas tree is in the bathroom in its usual spot. All I need now are some elves to help decorate the tree. That should happen tomorrow.
The only wildlife I saw today was this Red-bellied Woodpecker. It landed right on the side of the feeder and looked and looked at it, trying to decide how to move around to reach the nuggets. It finally bent down sideways and got some suet bites.
I wrote 1,054 words today. Not as easily as yesterday's words but I think I've got something brewing in Rose's life that should be interesting if I can pull it off. I'm not very good with unhappy emotions so it'll be a challenge. We'll see how it goes.
And it's snowing again. Not hard, but still--snowing. It doesn't look like it'll need shoveling but it isn't even Christmas or winter yet and I'm already over snow. At least it's warmer. In the 20s which is refreshingly balmy compared to yesterday's deep freeze.
